Health & Well Being

At Sir John Moore school, our aim is to support our pupils to grow healthily, safely and responsibly and to become active citizens who do their bit for society and for the environment.

We are a member of the 'Healthy Schools' initiative and have gained the silver award for 'Food for Life' scheme.

We have monthly school nurse drop in sessions, allowing parents to come in and chat with the school nurse.  See the News and Events page for the dates.

Sir John Moore School Nurse - Michelle Greaves (

Growth mindset. Resilience. Independence. Teamwork.

G.R.I.T. is our character education and our 'Golden Thread' throughout our school, helping pupils have a positive mindset about their learning and personal wellbeing, in and out of school.

We have completed the Route to Resilience project and have integrated this positive mindset throughout our school.

Children have been taking part in tasks which require resilience and perseverance such as skateboarding, parkour and team work tasks, encouraging an ‘I can attitude’ or a ‘I will be able to do it soon… when I practice’ attitude.

We have also enlisted a new children’s counsellor, (Rachel Feaver) who will be running fun group sessions throughout the year based on GRIT.
